ATTILIO SELVA - Rhythms (1921)

Exposed at the 1922 Venice Biennale, the bronze effect patinated plaster sculpture with title Rhythms is one of the acmes in Attilio Selva’s production, a Trieste born sculptor active in Rome from 1909. The work is part of a rich corpus of nude women that the artist realized since the beginnings of his career and that, in particular, starting from the 1910s, become loaded with symbolic significances. Selva realized two more nudes titled Rhythms: the first, in gilded plaster, was exposed at the 1915 Secessione Romana exhibition; the other in 1923, at the first Biennale Internazionale delle Arti Decorative of Monza.
